Introducing Summer Glen’s Klein Karoo Inspired SS21 Collection

Tegan Glen, a Cape Town-based photographer, created Summer Glen in 2020 after struggling to find the perfect fitting swimsuit (like many) and took it on herself to design a swim piece that would look sexy AND support women. After months of research and careful consideration to several women’s swimwear concerns, the “Infinite” range Summer Glen’s first collection  was born one summer’s day while exploring the Klein Karoo.

In celebration of Summer Glen’s 1st Anniversary, Tegan dedicated her second collection for Spring / Summer 2021 to this iconic semi-desert natural region in South Africa.

THE KLEIN KAROO RANGE:

All of the Summer Glen Klein Karoo collection items are manufactured locally in South Africa and consists of the following items:

• Lunar – inspired by the absolute darkness over midnight in the Karoo
• Rosenka – inspired by the flowering prickly pear cacti across the Klein Karoo landscape
• Fiesta – inspired by the bright pink fiesta bougainvillaea in the Klein Karoo Towns.
• Leo – 10% of all sales will be donated to The Cape Leopard Trust

THE DESIGN:

• Multi-way straps in the full swimsuits allow one to style their swimsuit for any occasion.
• Swimsuits supports A-DD cup sizes
• The high leg style avoids cutting over the hips and lengthens legs
• All swimsuits are double lined to avoid sheerness

SUSTAINABILITY:

• Fabric is made from Repreve fabric which is created from recycled plastic
• All tags are made from recycled paper
• The ribbon is used to attach tags rather than plastic
• Scrunchies are made from fabric offcuts to avoid unnecessary waste during production
• Online orders are couriered in mailer bags made from cornstarch. Customers can put the bags in their compost heap immediately.
