Cantabria Labs and Rafa Nadal “Goal Zero Melanoma” Campaign

Goal Zero Melanoma

Cantabria Labs promotes one more year of an “OK” and healthy life in the sun with its ambassador, Rafa Nadal.

Cantabria Labs, coinciding with World Melanoma Day, presents “Goal Zero Melanoma”, a new initiative of its awareness campaign “, Teach your skin what is important, protect yourself from the sun”, in which it counts on its ambassador, the sportsman Rafa Nadal, to help raise awareness in society of the importance of taking care of what is essential and healthy to prevent skin diseases.

Despite the fact that 66% of the population already use photoprotection all year round and 83% claim to use SPF50 or more1, there is still a lot of work to be done in this area. In Spain, more than 6,0002 new cases of melanoma are diagnosed each year and the incidence is now twice as high as it was 30 years ago. Moreover, melanoma is the form of skin cancer that causes most deaths in dermatological patients.

Goal Zero Melanoma

That is why Cantabria Labs wants to make the population aware of good sun habits to prevent these diseases. Therefore Cantabria, together with the help of Rafa Nadal, presents “Goal Zero Melanoma”. This is a  new challenge that encourages via Instagram the “hand challenge” to memorize the three steps to be “ok” in front of the sun and contribute to reaching the #0melanoma figure: protect and repair your skin, combine oral and topical photoprotection and finally, check the moles on your skin and consult a dermatologist if you are concerned.

Double solidarity challenge

Should Cantabria Labs’ #0melanoma filter go viral on Instagram with these three tips, and should it reach a number of diffusions higher than the number of melanoma cases in 2021, Cantabria Labs will add an additional €3,000 to the annual donation to the Fundación Piel Sana of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. This is an entity which collaborates annually for the research and prevention of skin diseases.

Cantabria Labs invests extensively in its awareness campaigns to take care of health and healthy sunbathing life. To this end and to achieve its goal of improving people’s quality of life, Cantabria has been working with Rafa Nadal for the last three years. In 2021 with the collaboration of Rafa Nadal, Cantabria Labs recorded over 120,000 people who learned to check their moles for early detection of skin cancer through the ABCDE trick.

In addition, athletes such as Sara Andrés, Mario Mola and several organizations and foundations have heeded HELIOCARE’s advice focusing on #theimportant. The Spanish Sailing Cup – Mapfre, the Rafa Nadal Academy – Movistar, the Rafa Nadal Tour – Vodafone, the Lo que de Verdad Importa Foundation, the Madrid Tennis Federation, and the Menorca Clinic Foundation are other entities that have joined in the drive to achieve the goal of the #0melanoma challenge.
